Valentine's Day

Alright - I like this Ladies Lounge idea so I'm gonna start a topic.

How many of us are totally into Valentines Day?

IMO: I'm not very much into. Not because my guy ain't here but just because I don't think we should celebrate our love for each other or other people just on one day. Besides, it gives my creative mind and romantic side a run for it's money because how can you think of something unique, creative AND romantic on a day like Valentines Day? You end up being cheesy and suckered into it. I like the little valentines that you give out to kids.

So I just resolve to not celebrate. That and those monthly anniversaries (1 month, 3 month and 6 month).

Am I weird?

Post your thoughts......

Re: Valentine's Day

It is definitely a commercial holiday and just another way to get the consumer to buy more stuff!
Showing your love to someone, should not just be limited to one certain day a year. I mean yes it is nice to have a "day" for it, but don't we all do something so many other days to show we care?

I like to do things because I want to...not because I am supposed to.

Happy Valentine's Day Ladies....hope you have a good one today and other days with your men.

Re: Valentine's Day

My boyfriend and I aren't really into this holiday but this year sucks because school and him living in Santa Cruz is keeping us from even seeing each other today. Last year we went out to breakfast and then saw the movie hitch and that was fun. Oh well, I get to see him on thursday.

Re: Valentine's Day

Me and my boyfriend kept it really simple this year. We probably didn't even spend $15 on each other. But that's just because our anniversary is next month, so that's when we'll go all out!

Re: Valentine's Day

Well of course I think the holiday is commercial. But i mean i spent maybe 19 out of 20 Vdays alone....Sooooo this one is the only one ive been able to enjoy, because its with the person i love the most.
Of course I don't think love should be signified for one day. It's everyday. I mean if i want to give my fiance a box of reese cups...ill give him a box of reese cups lol. But regardless of how commercialized the holiday is....i guess it gives some people a chance to go all out.
Think about this...aren't ALL the holidays getting commercialized now?

Re: Valentine's Day

Yeah I would have to agree about the commercialization of holidays.

I would say Christmas is the big one followed by Valentine's Day.

In my mind, it's more thought that you put into a gift not the amount of money.

I can see the going all out on Valentine's Day but why be cliche like that? Go all out on some other day of the year and see what the reaction is. Probably a lot better than if it was on V Day. I guess I live for spontinuity.

I just noticed in my school agenda book that Valentine's Day isn't even acknowledged in my month of February. Nice!
