Tried to start the car to go to work as it started, at the same time died. Tried again and now cranking sounds smooth like zero compression? Junk only has 60k. I removed the valve cover and chain looks fine, not really sure what I'm looking for though. Don't have compression tester and cant get one atm. Any obvious things to look at?

Turned egine over by grabbing the tire and spinning it forward or backwords(manual transmission in gear), cams are moving as I would expect them to. Sitiing in the car with key to on, after 10sec the CEL will flash 8 times. Is that normal as I never paid attention before, is it telling me I have codes?

Other cars can be the same way, something happens n the computer thinks something etc, two days ago I had a buddy keep his door open tried to jump it, would not turn over , finally got it to start an immediately died, it tripped the fuel pump relay, because we tried to jump it the quick jolt turned the pump off n I guess older ford's would do it to, every car has its wierd habbits

I got this car new. I didn't even drive it for the 1st 4 winters of owning it(1st NEW car syndrome). I've had to replace ALL of the sway bar end-links, belt tensioner twice and I think I need to replace it yet again, Top O2 sensor twice. Always burning through tires with this overly aggressive rear camber in a car with less then 150hp....many other dumb things. I've had a lot of cars and Mazda's just one I don't think I'll return too(unless its an FD).

Well that's unfortunate,
U can change ur camber n it's more likely ur toe setup,
But I've prolly replaced every suspension part on my car but I'm at 160k , I will always be a fan of mazdas, but if you want a super reliable car I really really like Toyota, n my Hondas
